In 1987, Marcia Smith and her mother were ambushed by her step-father while she was driving her mother to work.  Her stepfather shot her mother twice and wounded Marcia in both of her arms before he committed suicide later that day. 

Ten days later while recovering in hospital, Marcia would hear the sad news that her mother had passed away. Before her discharge from the hospital, God performed a wonderful miracle in Marcia's heart; she was able to forgive her stepfather for taking the life of her mother and wounding her. Marcia gave her heart to the Lord a few months later and has pursued him wholeheartedly ever since.
