Bill C-14 - Medically Assisted Death

On April 14, 2016 the long awaited Bill pertaining to Medically Assisted Death was finally tabled by the Liberal government.
Discussion of Assisted Suicide has been a conversation for many years but recently the conversation has been reignited due to the case of 2 B.C. women Gloria Taylor and Kaye Carter. This issue got brought to the Supreme Court which on February 6th, 2015 struck down the ban on physician assisted dying on the grounds that it violated Canadians Charter of Rights. Justices than gave the Federal and Provincial governments 12 months to prepare new Legislation. The current Liberal government has tabled Bill C-14 - there are still a number of readings and the need to pass it into law but Canada is on its way to making Assisted Death legal Nationwide.
